Seton Hall Starts the 2026-27 Season Priced at the Floor of the Title Board After Missing the Last Bracket
Seton Hall's NCAA tournament odds for 2027 rest on a season that ended one round short of the bracket: the market treats the Pirates as a program outside the national-title conversation, pricing them at the floor of the board after a 2025-26 season that finished in the Big East semifinals and never reached the NCAA tournament. Seton Hall plays its home games in New Jersey, most of them at Prudential Center in Newark and some at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, which makes the Big East program's 2027 title price a New Jersey question. The season opens on November 2, 2026, and the live board above carries the current price.
What the Seton Hall NCAA tournament market is asking
The contract asks whether Seton Hall will be the 2026-27 Division I men's college basketball national champion, which means winning the NCAA tournament that ends at the Men's Final Four at Ford Field in Detroit, listed by the NCAA for April 2 to 5, 2027. Reaching the tournament, winning games in it or making the Final Four pays nothing on its own; only the title settles the contract Yes.
Kalshi is the only exchange pricing this contract. Its men's 2027 college basketball champion event lists 73 schools, and on October 23, 2026 Kalshi had Seton Hall at 0.1%, the lowest price on the board, which means the market treats a Seton Hall title as something close to one chance in a thousand. The Pirates shared that floor with 16 other schools the same day, two of them Big East rivals, Georgetown and Butler. The contract on Seton Hall had matched about 50,900 contracts since the event opened in April 2026, and on October 23 it had no standing bid at all.
The rest of the board shows where the market thinks the title runs. Kalshi had Duke at 15% and Florida at 13% on October 23, 2026, with UConn third at 7%, so the favorite in Seton Hall's own conference sits among the national front-runners. Kalshi had St. John's at 3% and Villanova at 0.8% the same day, which means the Big East programs Seton Hall plays twice each are priced several times higher than the Pirates.
Why the Seton Hall title price sits at the floor
The 2025-26 record is the first reason. Seton Hall went 21-12, according to ESPN's results, and 10-10 in the Big East regular season. The non-conference schedule went well: wins over North Carolina State and Washington State at the Maui Invitational, where the only loss was 83-81 to USC, a road win at Kansas State on December 6 and an 81-59 win over Rutgers at Prudential Center on December 14. The conference season was a different shape. After an opening run that included wins at Providence, at Marquette and at Georgetown, the Pirates lost four straight in January to UConn, Butler, St. John's and DePaul, and they finished the regular season with a 72-65 home loss to St. John's on March 7.
The Big East tournament then ended the year. Seton Hall beat Creighton 72-61 in the quarterfinals at Madison Square Garden on March 12, 2026 and lost 78-68 to St. John's in the semifinals the next day. ESPN lists no postseason game after that, and the NCAA tournament's First Four games on March 17 and 18 and its 32 first-round games on March 19 and 20 did not include the Pirates. A program that missed a 68-team field six months ago is not one the market prices to win it.
The roster is the second reason. ESPN's 2026-27 roster lists 15 players under head coach Shaheen Holloway, and only two of them, Elijah Fisher and Trey Parker, appear on the 2025-26 roster ESPN lists for the club. A team rebuilt that heavily gives the market little to price from: the record that exists belongs mostly to other players, and the record that will matter has not started.
That is the structural read. The 0.1% Kalshi showed on October 23, 2026 is not a judgment that Seton Hall will have a poor season; it is the market treating a non-tournament team with a new roster as one of dozens of programs that would need several things to go right before its title price means anything.
What the 2026-27 schedule asks of Seton Hall
The schedule gives the price its first chances to move before the Big East starts. Seton Hall opens at home against Saint Peter's on November 2 and Long Island University on November 5, both at Prudential Center. ESPN lists a game against Charlotte at The Palestra in Philadelphia on November 9 with no tip time, then a road game at Alabama on November 13 and a meeting with Wisconsin at the Baha Mar Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, on November 19. Kansas State comes to Newark on December 4, and Seton Hall plays Rutgers at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway on December 12, the return of the state rivalry the Pirates won by 22 points last December.
The Big East schedule opens at Georgetown on December 19 and brings St. John's to Prudential Center on December 23. UConn visits on January 9, 2027, Villanova on February 10, and the Pirates play at UConn on February 17 and at St. John's on January 23. The regular season ends at Butler on March 6, 2027. Those six games against UConn, St. John's and Villanova are the ones that could change how the market sees Seton Hall: they are against the three conference programs priced highest on October 23.
A team that starts in the first round needs six wins to take the title, and a team that starts in the First Four needs seven. The Pirates first have to be in the field, which last season's record says is the real question for 2027.
The case against the Seton Hall NCAA tournament read
The strongest case against the read is that the price is a floor, not a forecast. Kalshi's lowest quote is 0.1%, and on October 23, 2026 it sat on 17 of the 73 schools, Seton Hall, Georgetown and Butler among them, with no bid beneath any of the 17. A price at the floor cannot say whether a team is a one-in-a-thousand shot or a one-in-two-hundred shot; it says only that nobody has paid more. Preseason college prices also move on results the market has not yet seen, and a roster with 13 names that were not on last season's list is exactly the kind of team a November tournament can reprice.
The second argument is about the conference. A 10-10 Big East season and a semifinal run at Madison Square Garden are close to a bubble résumé in a league with UConn and St. John's in it, and the Big East gives Seton Hall six games against the three conference programs the market prices highest. A reader who holds this view sees a team whose path to the tournament runs through games that would also make it look like a different team.
What changes the Seton Hall NCAA tournament read
The read is wrong if Seton Hall is a tournament team by February and the price has not moved off the floor. These are the dated tests.
• November 13 at Alabama and November 19 against Wisconsin: the first two games against major-conference opponents away from Newark.
• December 4 against Kansas State and December 12 at Rutgers: the last non-conference tests before the Big East.
• December 23 against St. John's and January 9 against UConn: the first meetings with the two Big East programs priced highest.
• March 6 at Butler: the regular-season finale, after which the Big East tournament and the NCAA bracket decide whether the contract is live at all.
When the Seton Hall NCAA tournament market resolves
The contract resolves on the 2026-27 Division I men's national champion, decided at the Men's Final Four at Ford Field in Detroit, which the NCAA lists for April 2 to 5, 2027. Kalshi's contract pays Yes on Seton Hall only if the Pirates are that champion and No otherwise, with an expected expiration of April 13, 2027 and a latest close of April 27, 2027. A Seton Hall season that ends without an NCAA bid, or with an exit in any round, leaves the contract to settle No when the champion is decided.
